Dr. Cathy Archibald

"I trained in West London and graduated from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in 1996. I worked in London for a number of years before moving to Gloucestershire 20 years ago. I have been a GP for 25 years now and enjoy the variety that this job brings. No two people are ever the same and that’s what makes life and people interesting!

I have a special interest in menopause & medical education. I have always had an interest in women’s health, which increased in recent years seeing friends, colleagues ( & myself!) developing perimenopause  and menopausal symptoms and observing the broad spectrum of symptoms it can bring. This sparked my interest in menopause specifically. I split my time equally between general practice and menopause work & for the last 4 years worked as a menopause specialist doctor at a large private menopause clinic. I have a broad depth of knowledge and experience in dealing with standard & complex menopausal symptoms. I take a holistic approach looking at the whole person and their lifestyle, but also feel that it is key to educate women and to empower them to make informed choices that feel's right for them. Individualised care is key, as no two women have the same experiences or history.

Alongside this I am a GP trainer, which means that I train new GP’s. I enjoy this nurturing and educational role of my job. I hope that I am shaping new GPs to be more individualised and have improved awareness of menopause and perimenopause .

When I am not working I enjoy gardening and love to bake.  We have a lovely Cockapoo dog  and you can often find me out walking him - which may, or may not involve a stop off for a coffee/cake or a glass of something…!

I have chickens at home, which fuels my baking, and I have enthused my daughter with the same passion for baking too. I am a bit of a foodie and cooking is a great pleasure for me, which is just as well as my family enjoy eating! When not working I love to catch up with friends over a glass of wine.”
