Dr. Katie Kirton
I spent much of my youth growing up in Cyprus before moving back to the UK to complete my A-levels. I then attended the University of Warwick, where I studied Cell Biology. During my degree, I became increasingly drawn to medicine and decided to pursue it as a career. I remained at Warwick to complete my medical training, graduating with an MBChB in 2009, and during this time undertook an eight-week elective placement in a hospital in Thailand, gaining valuable international clinical experience.
Following medical school, I completed my hospital training in Gloucestershire before moving to Wiltshire to complete my GP training. I then worked as a GP in Wiltshire for 10 years until relocating back to Gloucestershire in 2025.
Whilst I enjoy the breadth and variety of general practice, my particular clinical interests lie in Children’s Health and Women’s Health. I hold the British Menopause Society Certificate in the Management of the Menopause, alongside a Diploma from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. I place great emphasis on clear communication in consultations and am committed to taking the time to explain conditions, investigations, and treatment options thoroughly, ensuring patients feel informed and confident in their care.
Away from work, I enjoy cooking, travelling, and spending time with family and friends. Thankfully my two daughters inherited my love of musical theatre and we enjoy nothing more than a trip down to London to see a show. On rare occasions, (most often during the festive season) I revive my euphonium to play Christmas carols when the moment presents itself.
